Questions to ask a Wedding Planner

Hello again,

As promised I have put together some questions for you all, to prepare you for your appointments with your Wedding Planners. Remember your wedding day is just that…Yours! A wedding planner is there to assist and guide you, they are there to sort out as much or as little of the day as you want them too, they should be flexible enough to to arrange the wedding plans for your dream wedding. A good wedding planner should be able to narrow down to your ideal tastes,so that you do not have an overwhelming list of ideas to choose from, they should also be creative and encourage you to do something unique , but at the same time be honest enough to tell you what will and won’t work! Please think about these points when attending your appointments.

Right, now for your list of top 10 questions to ask at your appointments:

  • Can you plan a wedding on our budget? A good wedding planner is sensitive to plans on a budget, they able to priortize whats important and needs more or less monetary attention , ask to see examples of budgets and the outcome of the wedding.
  • Do you have a portfolio I can take a look at? This is important as you need to know if they have the same tastes as you, also this will show you how creative they are and how flexible they are with styles and themes.
  • What is your payment policy? can you pay by credit card, do you have to pay cash upfront etc? is there a deposit required and how much is it? A good wedding planner should not let you leave without giving you this information.
  • Do you have a preferred vendors list? If the wedding planner has a preferred vendors list this may work to your advantage as the planner may already have set prices and be able to match you budget easier with any discounts they may be able to get. This may make your wedding more economical.
  • May I see a list of prices and packages that you offer? The planner should show you this anyway, you should also get a copy to take away with you. Be sure to go through each package so that you know exactly what you are paying for.
  • Do you have any references that I would be able to get in touch with? If a planner has no references (unless they are new and you are therir first wedding) don’t book with them!
  • If the planner is new and you are their first wedding, ask them if they have anyone more experienced that they would be able to call should they need any help, included someone to assist them on the day.
  • Can you handle any last minute changes and emergencies? Ask for examples
  • Will you be contacting the vendors to confirm before the wedding? This may depend on the wedding package you have chosen.
  • Will you be able to attend the rehersal dinner and is there an extra charge for this?

At the end of your appointment try and get as much information to take away with you as possible, a good wedding planner will have put together some kind of information pack for you including a business card.

Until next time

Averell
