Children’s Entertainment at your Wedding

Inviting children to your wedding is a personal choice and there are many couples out there who have a clear rule…no kids allowed. This decision for most is not that they don’t like kids, but that they feel kids will be bored and parents will be unable to relax and enjoy themselves, because they’ll have their children to look after. Another reason is the ceremony, while your saying your vows, you don’t really need screaming kids in the background, and for this reason I would recommend, not having kids under the age of 6.
Children however can be a joy to have at your wedding especially if they are thought about in the wedding planning .
Think about hiring a creche service, they will supply professional staff to help take care off and entertain the kids, so that parents don’t need to worry. They will also plan and supply the entertainment so that’s one less thing for you to take of. Hiring a creche is a great idea if you are planning on having quite a few children attend and you have the budget!
Hire a clown or have face painters, again if your budget will allow, this will be great fun, and keep them entertained for a few hours.
A more affordable option are goodie bags, have goodie bags ready on the children’s table. Some options to include are:
A small Bottle of bubbles,
A small tub of play-dough
crayons
colouring book
cars for boys and play jewellery for girls
Just be careful not to include anything that will leave permanent stains on anything!
For older children, why not give them disposable cameras and tell them they’re are responsible for taking some great pictures throughout the reception.
If your lucky enough to have a separate room at your venue, have a TV with children’s DVDs, and popcorn.
Give them their own buffet with pizza, chicken dippers, crisps, jelly etc, Ask the venue, if they would allow you to prepare this yourselves, to cut costs.
What are your plans for the reception? If you are having entertainment like close magicians for the adults, why not just include the kids in that, this way your not spending any extra, also kids are more than happy to get on the dance floor, so let them join in for part of the evening.
